Description

Castelo de Aljezur, perched on a hill overlooking the village of Aljezur in the Algarve, is a Moorish fortification dating back to the 10th century. During the Moorish occupation, the castle played a significant defensive role due to its strategic location, providing panoramic views of the surrounding area. After the Christian Reconquest in the 13th century, the castle was refurbished and remained in use until the 17th century. Today, the castle is in ruins, but it offers a fascinating historical and cultural site to explore, along with breathtaking views of the surrounding landscape.
