Description

Forte de Almádena, also known as Forte da Ribadeira, is a coastal fortification located between Burgau and Boca do Rio, in the municipality of Vila do Bispo, Algarve. Built in the 17th century, the fort was designed to protect the Algarve coast from pirate and corsair attacks, forming part of a broader defensive system. Today, the fort lies in ruins but retains a historical aura and offers spectacular views over the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding cliffs.
