About Homenagem às Mulheres do Mar

Homenagem às Mulheres (Tribute to the Women of Póvoa) is a monument dedicated to celebrating the vital role of women in the Póvoa de Varzim community, particularly in fishing families. For centuries, Poveira women managed households and cared for their families while the men were out at sea. This monument honors their resilience, strength, and their significant contribution to preserving cultural and family traditions. The feminine figure represented symbolizes the courage and dedication of these women, who were essential to the city’s economic and social development.
