About Centro Cultural Convento de São José

An old Carmelite convent built in 1738, which survived the 1755 earthquake and is now Lagoa’s cultural centre. Highlights include the cloister, the 18th-century chapel and the watchtower. Inside, the former cells now serve as small galleries, and the venue hosts exhibitions, concerts and talks throughout the year.
