When exploring Tavira is the mission, this tour gives us everything we need to complete it with flying colors. We start by visiting the Mercado da Ribeira, located by the Gilão River. With its charming architecture and welcoming atmosphere, it is a popular meeting point for both locals and tourists. Next, we walk to the Jardim do Coreto, one of the city's most emblematic green spaces. We continue to the Praça da República, offering a vibrant atmosphere surrounded by historic buildings. We then proceed to the Ponte Antiga (Roman Bridge) of Tavira, one of the city's most iconic historical landmarks, connecting the two sides of Tavira. Next, we visit Largo da Misericórdia, a square in the heart of the city. A few more steps take us to the Castelo de Tavira, a historic fortification that offers stunning panoramic views over the city and the Gilão River, built by the Moors and later rebuilt by the Christians. It’s time to recharge, and Restaurante O Castelo offers us a quality dining experience, with a cozy atmosphere and a prime location. After lunch, we head to Tavira Island. To get there, we make our way to Cais das Quatro Águas, the departure point for boats that connect Tavira to nearby islands. Upon reaching the island, we’ll be able to enjoy a true paradise with long stretches of white sand and crystal-clear waters.
